Becky Gouverneur

Becky Gouverneur is a charcoal artist based in North Bucks, creating highly detailed, photo-realistic drawings of British wildlife, domestic, and agricultural animals.

 Her work captures their quirky personalities in a striking, high-contrast style, often set against stark white backgrounds to emphasise composition and detail.

With a background in studio photography, Becky’s approach is deeply informed by composition and lighting. She works from her own photography, using Photoshop to digitally manipulate images, adjusting balance, cropping, and tonal values, before translating them into charcoal. This careful planning ensures that each piece maintains both precision and artistic expression.

In addition to her studio practice, Becky teaches workshops and delivers demonstrations for Art Groups across the country, sharing her expertise with fellow artists. She is also a regular contributor to the SAA magazine, offering insights into charcoal techniques and creative processes. Through her work, she aims to bring a sense of joy and appreciation for the beauty of the natural world.
